20 years of Passion & Experiments
Benoit’s passion for the corals and the production of natural bio micro-nutrients for aquaculture and coral-culture has shown through his involvement in various projects on life preservation within an acquarium or in a natural environment. Benoît Lo Cascio works in collaboration with veterinaries specialists in ornamental fish-keeping, scientists and researchers. Through their support and encouragement, he has started to produce nutrients for reef aquarium and more important to respond to the specific needs of corals. These products are now known as DaphBio products.
Some yeas ago, the idea of feeding corals in an aquarium would have been unconceivable to some. Today, we know that corals need food and the food they receive are imporant for their good health and their beautiful colours.

Corals need in fact a combination of micro-nutriments (micro-algua, zoo-plankton, micro-crustacea, oligo-elements, MOD, bacteries) found in great numbers in their natural environment. Corals in aquarium need also rich, balanced and adapted nutriments (omega-3, amino acids, bacteries, chitine, bêta-carotene, tocopherol, minerals, oligo-elements, HUFA, vitamins, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, etc.).
DaphBio products provide to these needs and help to spare the corals in aquarium from breaking up, preventing them from diseases, helping to revive their colours and boosting their liveliness.
A biological culture under control
The production of Daphbio is done at the Daphbio Company site located in Southern France, in an area highly ranked for the quality of the air, the water and the high level of sunlight days in the year. Here, micro-algua, micro-organisms, micro-crustacea, probiotic and pre-biotic bacteries are produced following a biological process. All products are prepared with the greatest care and undergo daily control on the whole supply chain.
Daphbio’s sustainability approach is to help save the planet. All Daphbio products are fabricated from biological raw materials or high quality natural materials.
DaphBio’s fabrication process uses only renewable and clean energies. All our products are free of phosphate and nitrate.
Precision and Innovation
There are over 2 million kinds of micro-algua and as many kinds of different micro-organisms. The challenge is to find out which ones would be suitable to the needs of the reef aquarium and its population.
Daphbio has been continually untertaking a R&D programme to provide increasingly satisfying solutions to aquariums users.
Researches done by our research-students during a five-year period have been conducted on the 3 specific areas :
- Understanding the eating behaviours of corals and their needs in nutriments.
- Highlighting their food preferences and hours for food hunting.
- Defining the interaction between growth, colour and health of corals.
Three products as musts for the reef aquarium
Numerous researches have been conducted in DaphBio’s laboratory as well as at the production sites to verify the still unknown impacts of micro-algua, bacteries, pro-biotic or pre-biotic on colour, growth and appetite of corals and fishes.
Results show that corals seek specifically for micro-particles, that they know what their needs in micro-nutrients are, and that they even have their own food preferences.
Based on this discovery, three products have been created to respond specifically to the corals’ needs :
- Coral Booster is the food for corals, allowing them to enhance their colours, boost their growth and keep them in good health.
- Zoo Booster allows the re-creation of zoo plankton in the reef aquarium, to feed corals, fishes and alevins.
- Microfaune Booster helps to get a rich production of microorganisms, microfauna and microflora, and bacteries for the reef aquarium. Microfauna Booster is the preferred food for deep-water fish, all filter fishes and helps to enrich the micro-crustacea.
